Margaret Wilder Band

08/09/14 - 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

mwilder2Margaret Wilder is a singer, songwriter and pianist who is heavily influenced by a wide variety of music. Blues, jazz, gospel and Motown name some of the sounds playing in the living room of Wilder’s home growing up.

A prolific songwriter at a very young age, Wilder spent time honing her craft on an old, clunky, out of tune piano. Although classically trained early on, Wilder had a knack for boogie-woogie style piano and a passion for R&B. With these interests in mind, she found a teacher who helped define her style and introduced her to recording music and music software.

By age 13, Wilder had created a studio where she could write and record her own songs. Her passion for R&B grew over the years, eventually leading the young performer to pursue a full-time music career. Wilder began to write songs that would blend her many influences, evoking the classic styling of Etta James along with the newer sounds of Annie Lennox and Nora Jones. Wilder’s first album “Don’t Wanna Wait” received rave reviews and demonstrates her truly eclectic compositional talent. Wilder has since shared the stage with many regional and national acts, headlined festivals and played many premier clubs throughout the Northwest and Canada. She continues to stretch her legs as a musician, singer and songwriter.
